Out driving around in the wildlife refuge that is just a short distance from my home. This is the drive to Shock Lake, and there is usually water here but it has all but dried up leaving the duck weed behind.

Our lawns are all dried up, and you would not want to walk barefoot on them. Even watering my plants, and the garden, this drought is taking a toll of them too. It is nice to drive through this area, and still be able to see green, but for long?

Just an hour north of us the other day they got a good rainfall, we had about 5 minutes of sprinkles. :( It is supposed to be in the 90's and up to 100 degrees this week. The last drought that came close to this was in 1988.

I feel for the farmers, and the animals out there trying to survive. Usually I don't get that many birds at the feeder in the summertime, heck I fill them once a day, and keep the bird bath filled. I can see up to 5 at a time getting drinks from it. If your in this drought try to remember the helpless animals out there, they can use our help.

Thank you for viewing, and commenting, try to stay cool.

We had 55°F this morning and now it is 64! All are asking where is our summer gone? Personally I prefer this to the heat. This image looks nice and green and the sky looks very good too Sandi.

A nice colorful scene with a beautiful blue sky Sandi. Like Bob I'd be more than happy to swap you some of this rain for your weather. Land of sunshine my azz.

The detail in the trees is amazing, Sandi. The entire scene is gorgeous! ...My yard is a nice shade of brown now. That's OK though....I don't feel like mowing anyway! LOL.

We received 2.5 inches of rain the other day Tigz. It was a life saver for the farmers. It has turned hot and dry again. Looks like a Louisiana bayou.

Great shot and narrative, Sandi.
We also got perhaps 3 drops of rain yesterday .
This is the lowest the water level in my pond as ever been .
The Farmers in Indiana are hurting.
It's to late for the corn , but a small ray of hope for the bean and hay crops. I am also filling my bird feeders and bird bath , you are absolutely right it is up to us to help the animals in these conditions.
I am still doing the Rain Chant !

Everything is still green in this one even without the rain! Beautiful Sandi and so excellent! I heard yesterday that the weather is supposed to even be hot in December!!! There's no Christmas trees that will be sold cause they're all dying. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

---I feel for the farmers, and the animals out there trying to survive.---

It this was possible, I had sent you a part of the showers that we recently had (and still have), Sandi.

In spite of the barren conditions, still a wonderful image.

Regards, Cornelius.

It has been a terrible year here too for rain Sandi. We need some to keep the crops going indeed. The shot you have posted looks so lush even without the water.

Very bad here as well - there was rain all around us on Friday but just a 5 minute sprinkle here and 97F. today and 100F. tomorrow - it's a pleasure to see all this green for a change.

Gorgeous capture Sandi, such beautiful flowers and lovely sky, but no rain in sight. Yes I feel so bad for the farmers and yards plus gardens from lack of rain, same here.

Love the colors of sky and vegetation. Doesn't look too dry here yet. I know it is bad. The lawns here are also becoming parched, but I try to water the garden every day. They promise rain every other day, but it never pans out. We get a light shower. Good advice too, Tigs, about putting water out for the animals. My birdbath is always filled too.

I doesn´t look good with no water at all where it is supposed to be Sandi. The trees are still green though but if the drought continues they will not be for long. I hope and pray you will get rain soon. I would send it to you from here if I could. We have nothing but rain every day. A very nice photo well taken.
