(Phoebis sennae) Made a trip to my favorite place to (the calendar gardens) and was hoping to find some flutterby activity. I was surprised that there were not more but did see a few.

I pulled out my macro extension tubes, which I had not used this year.

I hope to get some feedback on the next few pictures, for the current contest.

Thank you for your comments, and help.

I bet you had to wait till the camera acclimatized to the greenhouse atmosphere to stop misting up eh!! ..

worth the effort to capture this beauty though!

You certainly got a good shot here Sandi. Nic colours and a good focus in this shot.

I've tried shooting these before and it is hard to capture the Real Beauty of them on camera. Much more Beautiful in Real Life but you did a great job with this one Sandi.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

This is a new butterfly for me. I like the contrasts between the butterfly & flower. Nice detail too. I haven't seen all that many butterflies either. Very well done, Sandi.

Good one, but I will wait for some others from you, to advise you on the contest participation. This particular shade of yellow is not that becoming, if you know what I mean... LOL
Seriously, a fine shot and Boris is worrying about not being able to catch it....

Such a beautiful post, Sandi. Great clarity and the dark background is perfect for the colors of the subject and his flowers. Is it for the current contest? Hope it is!

I would like to have seen a wider focal point than just the wings. A good closeup on the butterfly Sandi. Lovely colours and nice details in the photo. Here's an article you might find useful for taking macro shots of insects: http://www.beautifulbugs.com/beautifulbugs/howto.htm
