Another capture of this lovely Viceroy butterfly. I had the 13mm macro extension tube attached when I took this shot, and it was a distance but gave it a try anyway. I did not want to loose a chance at a shot. Not the best I know but thought it was still worth sharing. You can see the first one here which I did not have the extension tube attached. I kept changing things around.

Thank you for commenting.

I know butterflies are not the easiest subjects as they can flutter away in a second. I like the lighting on the lower wing ... excellent DOF too. Very well done, Sandi.

I don't know what it is about it but it looks very surreal Sandi like stained glass or plastic. Very interesting effect that was achieved.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Personally I would have skipped the border. You post such tiny shots that you're successfully blocking my efforts to steal your stuff and post it as my own on some of the other photo sharing site. When you stick in a border, the resulting image is that much smaller.

It's a beauty of a shot and similar to one I saw on FB. Nice eye catching the viceroy which for all practical purposes looks like a monarch's first cousin. I have found that the only surefire way to tell the difference is the taste test.
