A friend of a friend found this empty hummingbird nest. I wanted to try to give you an idea of just how small they are. They lay two eggs the size of a pea or jelly bean, and incubate them in this small space.
The momma hummer is still taking care of her two eggs up in the tree, this was a different nest.

Hummingbirds amaze me anyway and the nests are so interesting - they look more like wasp' nests to me that your typical loosely woven bird's nest. Thanks for these very interesting shots.

Their nests are very tiny ... I would surely miss it as it looks like it's part of the tree branch. Wonderful capture, Sandi. I like the natural textures.

People are like cameras--sometimes they lose focus.
Would be really hard to spot one of those little nest, I'm surprised they were able to get close enough for either shot. Nice work though. Glad you shared with us.
