(Eight spotted forester) It's pretty small, and was hard to get a good capture of.

After Pam the grounds keeper at the calendar gardens spotted him, he was the subject of many attempts with the lens by both of us. Lol!

Thanks for commenting, and hopefully someone will know what it is.

You got a great shot of it Sandi - I like the composition and seems the moth is quite small.

My guess (thanks to Google) is that it is the Eight-spotted forester moth (Alypia octomaculata)
:)

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Well done on an extremely difficult shot - the scale of him compared to the unopened flower bud aptly shows how small he is.

You can't hide from Google, no matter how small you are Tigz.
Wonderful shot and it sounds like you have quite the friendship with those at The Calendar Gardens.

Seems like you have quite a bit of help in figuring this one out. It is a cute bug that you had an opportunity to capture. I'll call him Spot. Good capture.

This is Beatrice, I'd recognize that bathrobe anywhere. A nice capture of the moth Sandi. A good DoF in the photo and lovely colours in the scene. Might I suggest increasing the exposure level to bring some light into the foreground.
