Saturday I paid a visit to Black Pine Animal Sanctuary, which is about 45 minutes from where I live.

They only give care, and housing to different animals that have come from bad situations, no breeding- just a safe haven.

The state of Ohio has changed it's laws regarding keeping exotic animals since that horrible story of the man who let all of his animals loose a year ago, and almost all had to be put down,as there were so many running loose. Because of this the laws are changing, and making if more difficult for people to keep animals, it can be a big cost to make improvements.. Some of the animals at Black Pine are there because of it.

I do wish people would realize that wild animals are not meant to be on this earth as pets!

I shot this through fencing, and ran it through a couple of programs.

Thank you for commenting.

It's wonderful to know there are still places like this!....Not only for the animals, but to those to 'see' other kinds of wildlife they would not normally see!

As above it lovely to hear that some one will help these poor creatures ,it took place in the UK some years back and I mean like 20 Years ago and these people with small zoos also were told that each creature like the big cat had to have a said size to be kept and they did not ,so they did the same and released them. That lead to the stores of big cat being seen in the wild.Back to you photo it is stunning and the detail is superb ,plus beautiful composition to this photo as well. When you see these big cat like this tiger you would love to be able to give them a hug it fur is so big end soft looking,

I don't think Exotic animals were meant to be pets, Tigz. It is another form of slavery to my way of thinking.
This is a great shot.

I totally agree that wild animals are not to be kept as pets. It saddens me of situations like the one in Ohio you mentioned, but am glad the animals have a safe-haven to go to. I think such people don't know what they are getting into when dealing with wild animals ... education is a must.

A beautiful portrait of this tiger ... love the lighting surrounding him / her. Great job on the editing too, Sandi.

A good close-up showing the details clearly Sandi. Wild animals don't belong to a household. I cannot understand people who love to keep even snakes as pets!

A beautiful animal that now is being well cared for - would that could happen for all the abused animals out there.

I hate to hear about that guy setting his animals loose. Such a mess it causes. The animals deserve to stay where they belong and live free but even so this is a good thing to have a sanctuary for these harmed animals. Great job on your work on this picture Sandi.

Sandi, what a wonderful and dignified face. I cannot understand why anybody would want to keep such a majestic animal as this as a pet. An excellent portrait.
