This little male sat there for some time enjoying the sugar water, and checking out the surroundings, and did not seem bothered by me.

I set up the feeder last Friday, and Saturday morning I saw my first one. I use a mix of 4 cups of bottled water to 1 cup of sugar. This is a new feeder as well, and I always make sure they have a perch on them, because alot of them don't.

Camera used was the canon 40D with the canon 70-300 IS USM lens at a length of 300mm.

Well done Sandi - we usually have some at our flowers each year but haven't seen any yet.

Wow this is one stunning photography with lovely detail and I love the soft blur you applied to this photo as well.Plus the light and composition is spot on especially the shafts of light running down the feeder .

Sandi, when they are flying, they are very hard to capture because of their extremely fast moving wings. Think it sat down as its reward for spoiling it with your new feeder. Anyhow a perfectly timed capture. Very well done!

Very nice capture of the hummer Sandi. I've seen one several times but the little rascal lands way too far and right in the sun light. Not much point in a hummer silhouette.

A nice capture of the bird that keeps forgetting the words to the tune and so has to hum the verse, Sandi. Nice of it to pose for you.
