My post for the day was taken at the Calendar gardens yesterday.

I tried the AV mode on the canon 40D. I have been using P mode. Snapshooter suggested I give this mode a try, so finally I have learned something new about my black box. :) It's easy to get stuck in safer zones, and I'm glad he motivated me to try something different.

Info: Canon 40D with the 40mm (pancake) lens. ISO 400, f/7.1 Exp. time 1/2000. No fancy editing done, just the basic.

Thank you for stopping by, and commenting.

Now about the song to go with picture. you can click here

A perfectly sharp and clear photo of this beauty Sandi. It looks so lovely against the soft background. A stunner !!

Thanks for the music link too - that took me back a bit ! Ah, nostalgia, I was young then (I still remember the words, but not sure what I had for lunch today lol)

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Great to hear Neil Sedaka ('Oh Carol' comes back into my mind, lol) again and great to view this excellent posting. A perfect and well chosen match Sandi. Thanks for that!

Regards, Cornelius.

Wow the detail in this photo is outstanding along with the outstanding colours and the detail is that good i can see the spider upper right in this shot too.Plus the centre of this flower is amazing it like the main petals have opened to a stage of extra colour Sandi.

Very nice, Sandi. A perfect range of depth. I think the spider might be afraid of your pancake lens, as it appears he's going under cover :-)

I wish I was a Glow Worm, a Glow Worm's never glum, 'cause how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?

Way to go Sandi. You are stepping up to P mode. You have a tad more control of the EV in this mode plus you can play around with the aperture. Next thing you know you will really let loose in M mode. That's when some creation begins. This is a lovely sharp image and you have a little critter on a flower...along came a spider.

an oddie but a goodie, havent heard that song in years. it appears you have a hitchhiker on this one, as mentioned above. ok if know one else is going to say it..i love f7.1 you were at 1/2000 wow thats up there! yet iso 400? i would ave dropped all the way down with my lowest iso with those speeds in AV to uliminate all possible grain. then i would have maybe even dropped the exposure bar compensation to -1 to get a deeper darker color with more detail, since you were at those speeds? you would have dropped some but plenty enough for handheld. always room on the card for two or three settings config to choose a shot from in experimentation. regardless of my critiquing, its a beauty with great detail in the center. you do flowers well! way to go snapshooter for the push! he's right, AV & TV is a great and easy way to creativity
