I enjoyed a third visit to my friends home for another ride through her wildflower garden. Her husband made a couple more paths, so of course we had to check them out.

I used the canon 70-200mm lens this time and took the f/stop up a bit more. This was early evening hours and was dealing with sun most of the time, except when a cloud would offer some filtering.

I wonder if someone can tell me what this flower is, she has lots of Black Eyed Susan up now, but this is such a different color, and wonder if it is a variation of it, she was not sure either.

The butterfly is either a Red Admiral or a Painted Lady, I can't remember.

Her garden is full of butterflies, dragon flies, and Bumble bees, and it really was the perfect end to my day.

Thank you for commenting, I hope you have a nice day.

Her garden is a photographer's paradise from the way you describe it, Sandi. Your shot here is absolutely gorgeous. I don't know what kind of flowers they are, but I wish I had some growing around here. The butterfly is a big plus in this shot, too.

Cropped to the left side it would make a great greeting card image. As is it's a lovely image for a wallpaper or maybe an image for a magazine article. It has so much potential for use in many ways. Great shot.

Wonderful colours and bokeh here Sandi. The butterfly naturally adds much to the beauty of the image. No idea what the flowers are called. Perhaps Kathy can tell you.

---I wonder if someone can tell me what this flower is---

I'm not sure, Sandi. Perhaps a species of a Coneflower/Echinacea.
Like Raj said already, think we need the help of Kathy.

Very very fine capture composition again. The butterfly is the 'cherry on the cake'!

Most certainly a type of coneflower or Echinacea Sandi - and I do think that is a painted lady - exquisite shot once again what a find that garden is.

Tigs, I believe this flower to be a Gloriosa Daisy - it is an annual or short-lived perennial that is heat and drought tolerant once established - they are usually included in packs of wildflower mixes. A lovely shot and the butterfly is a great addition to your image. Well Done!!!!!!!!

Wowsie, such gorgeous colours in these coneflowers, love the way the pedals go from darker toward the centre going lighter as it goes to the edges. You've given us a extra bonus with the butterfly that matches the flowers, also love the low angle. Right into my favs - Bravo girlfriend

Nice catch sandi, the color mix is really pleasing and the butterfly adds a perfectly symmetrical splash of color all it's own. I can't help wondering what results the Canon 100mm macro lens would've given you here. The newer stabilized model is the perfect flower lens. If you don't already own it, put it on your wish list, you'll thank me later. And if you're a big, burly specimen, I'd also recommend the Canon 180mm unstabilized macro lens, but it's like a brick hanging from your shoulder. Either one will kick this shot up a notch, or you could make that butterfly look the size of a truck. It'll also help you practice your stealth technique as you hunt every bug in the garden. You're in macro heaven, now you just need the lens to see it. And after you've got the 100mm, start thinking 'ring flash'. It's only money.

I haven't a clue of what the flower is ;) I do love this shot though. A great combination of colors and well framed. With a flutterby as icing on the cake. Great, Tigs!
