From a Buddhist perspective, this is simple, natural, and interconnected. Thank you for posting.

Ahhh, the water lilly. The flower of hidden mystery. Your delicate and beautiful image (now on my desktop, thank you) is hiding much from us. I don't know if you've ever been "up close and personal to one, Sandi, but this flower is so much more than what one sees from a distance. We kayaked Minnesota's Lake Itasca last year, floating through a field of them. They were good-sized, about 4" to 5" inches across. I checked the water depth with my oar and I couldn't touch bottom with my 7' oar, pushed about a foot or more into the water, indicating these flowers have a very long stem anchoring them to the bottom (Googling them shows a myriad of stems and the rhizome eyes from which the stems grow), indicating that when we see a large group of them we may be looking at just a few or possibly just a single plant that can spread out quite wide, as some mushroom fungi are know to do, like an organic iceberg; only a small amount of it is actually seen on the surface. Also, while trying to position my kayak to get a close-in photo of one without dropping a shadow over it, I would accidentally sometimes push the flower under water. When that happened this supposedly delicate flower would cause its petals to life up and over the pistils and stamen, enclosing them in a veritable white ball, instinctively protecting them as the entire flower was submerged. It was quite a moment of discovery.

As always (judging by the obnoxious length of this comment), I like an image that makes me think.

Happy Trails

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB
