One from my vacation in Michigan. My buddy Chris took me to the Historic Bridge Park, in Battle Creek, Mi.

Here is a little information on it (Historic Bridge Park, located a bit southeast of Battle Creek in Calhoun County, Michigan, is a unique park which also functions as an open air museum whose focus is on the historic truss bridges that have been moved to and restored within the park. The park allows metal truss bridges that have become insufficient for their original location to be preserved for their historic and aesthetic value. There also is a historic stone arch railroad overpass within the park. Historic Bridge Park is the first of its kind in the entire United States. In addition to providing the historic bridges for the enjoyment of visitors, Historic Bridge Park is a fully functional park, with running water restroom facilities, picnic and playground areas, and paved trails for the enjoyment of pedestrians, bicyclists, etc.)

I appreciate your comments, thanks!

I wish I was a Glow Worm, a Glow Worm's never glum, 'cause how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?

I'm glad someone is preserving them. All too often things we take for granted get replaced and trashed and it's just not the same, it feeling like a missing tooth. And it doesn't matter how large or small the object. Many years ago the museum I worked for created an exhibit called "Gems, Junk, or What?" in which 50 objects were displayed in a gallery, items that ranged from an American flag made entirely of dyed wheat kernels and dried corn, to an electric prod used for treating constipation (ouch!!), to an empty Bic lighter found outside. A card was printed and given to each visitor, a card that listed all 50 objects with a brief description and three boxes for them to choose and check, to indicate if they thought the object was a gem, a piece of junk, or they didn't know what it was. Almost without fail anything that was newer than 20 years was considered junk and the rest of the choices indicated the general public either wasn't educated in the reasons behind historic preservation or they just didn't care... we are living in a disposable era after all, at least that what it seems like. The people who started this park should be commended and thanked for their efforts. This bridge appears to be in good shape with a new wooden deck. I've been to Michigan before, on vacation, and intend to go back sometime. I'll have to put this place on my "to visit" list. Thanks for the idea and thanks for the pics of the place.

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB

Excellent composition, Sandi. The sun just peeking through the bridge is very well chosen. Thanks for your narrative as well. Good that this and other monumental bridges are saved from being destructed, my friend!

Sandi - You chose an excellent point of view to capture the bridge and surroundings, while having the sun shining on the image. Great use of a small aperture provided the star-burst effect on the sun, while providing great depth of field. Having Chris in the photo with his camera adds to the image. Very well done!

If I could tell the story in words, I wouldn't need to lug around a camera. ~Lewis Hine The Earth without art is just 'eh'.
