I took this awhile ago, at a nature area. I believe this is a female sparrow I used the Nikkor 80-400mm with the Nikon D500 handheld.

Thank you Richie for giving the proper name -The Savannah Sparrow.

Thanks for your comments.

I wish I was a Glow Worm, a Glow Worm's never glum, 'cause how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?

I've never been to Savannah, Indiana, Tigz. Georgia yes.
Your lens and camera work good with you behind the view finder.

Your getting an eye for the birdies now hey Tigz. I been away from the wildlife of the feathered variety for awhile but I promise to return!

Keep it up, you know you like it. (o:
BTW: I'm using a classic Nikon Nikkor lens myself.

A very nice capture, Sandi. Just how far away from her do you figure you were? The focus is very good, and the lighting not harsh enough to burn out her shadowed details.

---I believe this is a female sparrow---

Sandi, if Richie had said this in a comment, I had taken his words for granted, but now I'm wondering how you've achieved your knowledge, ☺ . I'm not underestimating however your knowledge about anything natural thing that can fly, like birds and butterflies!
Perfectly chosen shot of this female Savannah sparrow in its natural environment, my friend.

Lovely shot of this sparrow Sandi. They are definitely not an endangered bird. Sparrows are plentiful and the ones I have encountered are not too shy to come in for a closer look.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
