Neighborhood bullies for sure, jays are still one of my favorite birds because of their raucous call, gorgeous coloring, and pointed head (except for the coloring, pretty much how my wife describes me!). I even et a kick out of how they consume peanuts in the shell, pecking the shell away on one end and extracting the goodies one at a time. The way you've captured him here, slightly out-of-frame and behind a blurred branch, makes it feel like we've snuck into his private world unbeknownst to him.
If you've ever wanted to make a difference but found it hard to believe that one person could... check out the Kiva Team Caedes discussion thread and discover that anything is possible.
Your window studio is producing some outstanding portraits Tigz. For some reason they make me think of Eggray. "Can You Hear Me Now," comes to mind when I look at his pose. Extremely well framed.
Beautiful capture - I hear their raucous calls every morning if I go to the car. I know they are not "nice" birds but I do think they are beautiful and you've captured him well.
To bad that one branch is in the way but over all this is wonderful!! What a beautiful bird. My wife has 2 feeders in our back patio area and she loves watching the birds eat and frolic!! Great job Tigs;)
This capture is excellent, the composition gives one the sense that you are actually right there, looking at this beautiful bird. Startling details, color, a precious photo. Favorite.
We have Blue jays here in Florida along with a whole host of other local and migratory birds. I have heard bad things about jays though. Nice captured of this Ave.
They are beautiful birds and I love to get a photo of them. Glad you captured one. When I was a child on the farm they used to rob us of our cherries on the tree.
