I took a drive to Defries Garden yesterday, and there was a lot of bird activity, and I managed some shots before leaving. I used the Nikon D500/Nikkor 80-400mm lens (set at 400) for this one.

Wow, he sure pops against all that gray winter wood, and y'know, if I look real close at his beak, it almost looks as though he's grinning. He probably approves of your excellent portraiture. I thought cardinals were more red than this, though, or is it the bright sun doing that?
