My sis, again, (~8
I know about the blown highlights, it was about the most contrasty scene one could imagine,
Burning sun on pure white background, and your subject in the shadows,(~8

Anyhow, the background is so uninteresting I don't even mind having it blown out, as is it was not, all it would do is distract from my little sister, 8~)

I applied some effect to the eyes, as well as brightened up her face, so if you will, PLEASE LOOK LARGER, (~8

Hope you'll enjoy this one,
Tim

I think the background is abstract and adds to the picture. Nice!

your sister makes a very good model and she is very photogenic. finding models with any expression is tough. the lighting and contrast adds to this picture, IMO, and is very flattering to the model.

I have to agree with my friends above, well, at least the ones I can understand :)

The blown out background has an effect all its own that lets your sister shine through nicely. I'm not sure what you did with her eyes, but they look great!

"I never looked for it, gave it no name; yet I knew it always, when the gift of peace came. I stood quite still for the moment that it lasted...Then the light shifted slightly and the moment passed, leaving me...with the lasting echo of its presence.." Diana Gabaldon

I like the overlighted effect of the background here Tim, The subject becomes more important, while the background works like a kind of spotlight on your sister (model). I like it very much!

What a beautiful shot Tim! Your sister looks fantastic, and I love what you did to her eyes, and the brightening of her face! She looks like a model to me...thank you soo much for sharing, and give my regards to sister for such a beautiful picture!

Once again: beautiful picture. The background doesn't take away from the effect at all. If anything, it adds nice contrast and shading. I like what you did with the face as well - it helps since she's in the shadows.

How about a self portrait from you now? ;)

The blown out background gives this portrait an interesting effect. It makes the model stand out. Very nice work!

I agree with all the comments above about the high contrast working very well. I add that the angles in the background work well with the angles of her body, give power to the composition I think. Excellent portrait shot.
