Whoa...that's really spooky looking. I keep waiting for some evil being to poke his head out from behind that tree. I like the effects, whatever they are that you used. Bobinization, maybe? Good work.

Great shot. How long was the exposure? I love how it makes the tree limbs a little blurry but the abbey is still in sharp focus.

I didn't count them, but suppose it's about # 12.
As I said before in a comment on one of Patti's (Fogz) images, don't expect from me that I will say which one is the best as every artist has it's own approach. Like only to say that this one, to me, belongs to the gategory 'great images'.
Regards, Cornelius.

This was certainly a wonderful place to have all these fine photographers making art. There are so many different ways of looking at this unique building. It's very interesting to me to see the different treatments.

We don’t make art to show someone what something looks like. All this requires is eyes (or a lens). Art is supposed to have meaning, emotion, power, or magic. Alan & Mario "FourThirds"

Nice composition Tim.

Having read KingIan's comments above ... it never even occurred to me that the slight double exposure of sorts of the branches was a result of a long exposure.

Kind of had a smile on my face envisioning you taking a few exposures ... hand held, of course ... for an HDR image.

I suppose at some point you will offer up the answer to our collective and inquisitive visual conundrums. That said ...

Very nice work behind the lens. To my eyes, you captured the essence ... and grit (<--- it's a good good thing) of this remarkable old structure. Well done, and but of course ... thank you for sharing this one with us. :o)

p.s. Good title and concept. Everything works well here.

Woweeeeeee, this is an amazing photo! Not only is it filled with TONS of drama, but it is a bit scarey too..the colours and the tree just make this photo come alive!!..in a dark sorta way. The green really enhances it all. It's like velvet..nice stuff. V

It is almost like you have sketched it with charcoal or black ink Tim! It has a great atmosphere - I can imagine there are a few monks lurking in the background!

I'll never get tired of seeing these Tim. This is a good one, so much drama and you did well getting all the verticals straight - I'm having trouble working on mine. The tree in the foreground is a very nice touch. I'm not sure what Patti's seeing when she says there are monks in the background.... no doubt someone else in the Caedes group examining the ruins.
