Church of Hagia Sophia, "the Old Metropolis is located at the presumed old city center. It is a three-nave basilica with a semicircular apse, which is outside trammel with parvil and an inner court (patio). Its length is 25.50 meters. Lateral vessels are separated by the central square built of stone pillars connected by brick arches. Above the second step arcade. On the east wall above the apse are three arched windows. Basilica had two layer roof that is not maintained.Inside the church was plastered with mortar and painted. All below was covered with a mosaic of small colored stones. The construction of the basilica dates from the end of V and the beginning of the VI century. There are two construction period, its current form it acquired at the beginning of IX century. In the Middle Ages the church serves as a cathedral of the diocese of the Metropolitan Center in Nessebar. In 1257 was looted by the Venetians, many religious relics are referred to the church of San Salvatore in Venice. Abandoned at the end of XVIII century.
