some more american ignorance. there is no inside passage between alaska and washington state. alaska borders british columbia and yukon canada. you know canada? that huge country just north of the states? i know its easy to miss, being the second lagrest country in the world... look at an atlas dammit!
Watch who you call ignorant. In case you didn't notice, there is something between Alaska and Washington. Just because it is off the coast of Canada and I didn't choose to mention Canada doesn't mean I'm wrong. While I'm looking for my atlas, why don't you check out an Elements of Style and learn how to use proper capitalization.
Umm, that "something" between Alaska and Washington is called Vancouver Island, which is part of B.C. How's my capitalization now? Maybe ignorance is too strong a word, this is a cool site after all.
Ok, thanks for the reasonable reply. :-) I took a minute to look at a map and it turns out that most of the inside passage cruise was actually in Alaska the whole time and didn't include Canada. You know... where Alaska has that strip of coastline that the Yanks grabbed. :-) [Map]
I actually lived in the Yukon at one time so maybe that seemed more obvious to me than to most people. The inside passage is beautiful though, you could probably make a whole category of pics devoted to that part of the world.
o, and tea_bagged don't you stereotype the citizens of the u.s. cuz just becuz one person says sumthin u don't agree with. all americans aren't "ignorant". there are ignorant people in every country.
You know what would be even more gorgeous than this picture is if Canadiens weren't so ready to be smart aleck about pointless crap and Americans weren't so insistent that Canadiens are wanna-be Americans.
Thats right BiGGuns. We Americans took this passage because even though our counrty might not be as big, we have been able to do and become more than Canada could ever dream of becoming. We are far more powerful than all you touchy little Canadian (guys) will ever be. So sit back and marvel at this gorgeous photograph of a beautiful AMERICAN state!
The picture is amazing and shows how nature can produce superb spectacles. The subsequent 'discussion' unfortunately demonstrates why human beings are a bunch of idiots who don't deserve such wonderful scenes.
"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts." Bertrand Russell
There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is a society, where none intrudes,
By the deep Sea, and music in its roar,
I love not man less, but Nature more
--Lord Byron
Another brilliant remark by an idiot "Red Leopard" making all Americans look like red necked cowboys. They did NOT take Alaska from anyone, Canada never had it, they bought it from Russia.
Beautiful photo. Being an Alaskan, whose family hails from Canada originally, I am sorry your picture caused so much controversy. In actuality, everyone was right on some level :) The Inside Passage extends from Seattle and Puget Sound north almost 1,000 miles to Skagway, Alaska via mostly protected waters east of outlying islands of both British Columbia and Alaska. I'm doing the proper American/Alaskan/Canadian thing by playing it safe :) You're all right!!!!
Whoa that was harsh teabagged. ...Caedes you are Ben Wood? This is frickin awesome!!! In the favorites and a 10!! ...YOUR MY HERO!!! *we love you caedes*
Wow, this image is awesome. I looked at all the landscapes on the site and this was my favorite! I wish I could see it in person someday. After all, I do want to live in WA. Keep up the good work!
its a piece of friken land, no one should own land, it makes no sense. land is land, people build on land, BUILDING ON SOMETHING DOES NOT MAKE IT YOURS.this beautiful piece of land must be corrupted by some guy thinkin that AMERICA is so great that they should own everything, why think like that. ownership leads to greed, greed leads to jealousy, and jealousy leads to fighting, POINTLESS fighting
