Wonderful shot, Robert. From the slightly ruffled "I just got out of bed" feathers on the back of his head to the drips from his beak. Nature at its best.
"What other reason could there be to get up in the morning except to set ourselves free."
If my comment on your work ever seems to criticise, it does not. It is always so that we may learn together.
Excellent capture Robert. Love the way you caught the reflections in the water & the droplets coming from his beak. Recent meal? :)...high quality & color. Thank you.:))
I just can't believe this image. I try about 3 times a year to photograph pelicans. It looks like your one image is better than all of mine put together. Just an excellent photo. 10 x 10 and in my favorites. THANX for sharing.
The resolution and clarity in this shot are amazing. Beautiful work. Like Sally, most of the pelicans we have here in Louisiana are the brown and grey types - not many white ones. I shot one the other day just as he dove into the water to catch his dinner, and it presents a completely different view of the pelican than you peaceful one. Have a look at Pelican Strike. The bird is not as lovely though as yours. Nice work.
Pelicans scare me. I took a picture of one once and it took off flying. RIGHT AT ME!!!!!! All I could do is run down the beach screaming like a little girl. Do you have any idea how scary they are when they are flying right at you with that HUGE beak. I think I'm mentally scared for life. lol :) Maybe someday after therapy I'll be able to post the picture of this beast
