The world is changed. I feel it in the water. I feel it in the earth. I smell it in the air. Much that once was, is lost, for none now live who remember it. -Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring
Hey Robert. That's very cool! ;) Like Alexis said. Split-second timing made all the difference. Such a clear capture. I'm drawn right to that determined eye.
I dont know why.. but pelicans have always been a fav bird of mine.. love this pic, its lovely and clear, great colour and lighting, and a perfect action shot... great work
As far as details are concerned I haven't seen such a detailed capture for a long time. Sharp as a razor. It looks as if frozen for a second, but the birds wings indicate that in a minute or so it will fly away. Great lighting effects, I love the light which concentrated on the back of its neck. Thank you for sharing it with us.
i agree, love the details. i like the blaze of light down the back of his neck. the light on the concrete makes it less obtrusive too. did you use continuos shooting mode?, that way you could have a series with some of the bird in the air too (perhaps you have).
only problem i have is the cement, but the environment he's used to is probably why you could get so close. great backlightning, its neat to see the light coming through parts of the bill. great colours and depth too
They are just naturally funny. I think it's because they seem so out of balance. He seems more on the verge of falling face first into the water than flying. Just sitting he might not have stood out so well. Lucky for you (and us) he struck such a great pose.
Wow marvelous...you came very close to this one.
and catched him in a great move.
the hole compostion is full of sparkling lights which makes the light coming through parts of this pelican even better.
What a handsome guy, ready for takeoff. His bill is such a lovely pink. You seem to have a wonderful knack for photos of birds. I envy your talent. Thanks for this clear lovely pelican...
