A Blue Darter makes himself at home on the antenna of my car. It took about 15 minutes for him to get used to my presence and let me get close enough for a shot a two. Then he tolerated me if I didn’t make any sudden movements. I used a 200mm lens with a number 2 close up filter.

Robert, this is great shot, as expressed by all of the above. The detail is fantastic but what really caught my eye is the play between the metal antenna and the metal look of the darter. It gives the darter a feel of mechanization - like a very small robot. Very cool -

I think you definitely have a way with dragonflies. The top of your antenna looks like an excellent landing site for the little buggers. Excellent detail, and I love the title.

I know what you mean about having to sneak up on these guys. They are quite nervous, but what a great close-up you were able to get. Imagine being around about 6 million years ago and photographing one of these then. You'd likely have to move slowly so he wouldn't decide to come after you. Back then they had wingspans that were between 18" and several feet and were probably interested in bigger game. ;^>
