I apologize to all who commented on my first posting. I had posted a version with a serious flaw (at least to my eyes) of this earlier today. I had this version ready and had intended this to be the posted version. Please do not feel you need to comment again. Since is my contest entry I had to correct it. All comments appreciated.

So you changed the frame colour and darkened it a bit or added some contrast?
Still liking it. Good work and all that. Best of luck in the contest.

Think about the photo before and after, never during. The secret is to take your time. You mustn't go too fast. The subject must forget about you. Then, however, you must be very quick. Henri Cartier-Bresson

Hi, Kathy....

I'm sorry I missed the first one. This one is a beauty. I will never ever never ever post another flower photo again. You make me feel so inadequate.

Good luck in the contest.

So it's come out of hiding twice Kathy. It's still a beauty.

I will gladly comment again. Even with all that traveling around in cyberspace, and through the editing software, it still is gorgeous. It must have gone through a cybershower along the way, and got refreshed. LOL.

This is very beautiful Kathy - the hydreangea colour is perfect with the hint of pink. I am glad it is not too much hidden:)
Best wishes in the contest - a very worthy entry.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Kathy - The tweaking has made this more exciting, perhaps the contrast adds to the sense of the hydrangea peeking out from hiding. Thad

I commented on this yesterday and when I hit the post button, I was told the image was not to be found. I even looked for it, but could not find it. Well, I have two of these shrubs in my yard and love them very much. This is beautiful and I think I would have done exactly as you did.

I like the way the dark shadows are really dark, giving a sense of things hidden, but the things that should be strong and clear are that way. Normally a central subject like this feels stolid to me but I think the continuation of the flower colour in that lower right corner gives a similar effect of a decentralized subject, somewhere for the eye to move and roam. Beautifully sharp and clear, great dof. For a shot with so many separate elements it feels remarkably minimalist.

I was about to criticise the composition, but then noticed that it is actually pleasing to look at. Zero irritation due to it, and a little intrigue, makes one want to look at it more.
You must have hit the proverbial "golden line" of compo.
Two colors only, but it manages to look really good, that is odd.
And the focus. Yeah, I'd say this is great!

Saw this in the VB and had to give it high marks! Like how the flowers are just hidden away by the leaves. The light on the flowers really bring out the color and details. Nice job.
