This church was built in 1889 by German farmers that emmigrated to this area. The original church was built in 1864 and it's bell was cast in 1867. Needing more space they built this 2nd church in 1889. It is located in Fremont Center Township IL. Here is a link giving the history in picture form of the church. All comments and critiques appreciated.

This church has quite a history and that history was quite nicely preserved in the photos in your link. I have a sense that this church holds a special significance for you. It is a pretty little church and I was glad to see inside too. The church my mother attended as a child was called "Matka Boska Częstochowska", St. Mary's too and the church in my home town is also a St. Mary's, so that has significance in that way for me. A beautiful post of this lovely church, Kathy.

Hi, Kathy....

Happy to see that you're staying clear of flowers for the time being. :-)

Excellent detail, at least better than anything I've managed to shoot. When you can count the shingles, you know you're doing something right. As usual you are the master of the complimentary border...even threw in that thin line of vignetting which suits the shot as well. Wonderful colors although I'm usually suspicious a sky with green in it. I have a shot in my bin with a violet sky that I'm sure everyone will jump on. Sometimes the color is just the color and you are not one to overedit a shot. Nice comp. How 'bout if the next shot is from the top of the steeple?

That's a beautiful shot of the old church. I like old churches better than the new ones they have nowadays.

Kathy - This old church has great character. I don't know where Roger is seeing green sky - it looks very fine on my monitor - as does the whole image. Thad
