This is the old copper roofed fishing pier at Waimea on the southwest coast of Kauai. It was used in the movie "South Pacific" made in the 50's. Today would be a good day to be there! Brrr! All comments and critiques appreciated.
I love that movie, and believe it or not, a song from it was going through my head when I opened this up...even before for a while though. Strange. Beautiful shot. I love the wave action, and the people fishing from the pier. Now I am going to watch the DVD just to look for this.
It can be arranged, Now would you like to fly there, travel by boat or take the scenic drive? A long walk off the short pier would seem to be in order once you are there no matter the mode of transportation. Just be sure to be facing the landward side when you take the first step. A nice capture of this lovely scene, Kathy. Good composition and lovely colours.
For me, dear Kathy, this is a much desirable and awaited antidote for the dreary, drizzling and windy autumn-like winter which I am 'enjoying" here. Many thanks, dear friend. By the way our comon friend the she-cat named Tequila is thriving in the best of health and starts to use me as her servant - calling me to ask her masters to let her in as she cannot press the doorbell hard enough, although she is rather a substantially built kitty LOL Yours SAM
My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
You know how many Kauai pics I post so you can imagine how many i take. I truly thought this was the Hanalei pier. I even checked it out. Excellent work on this new find for me. Thanks for uploading it!!!
