I've been playing with the Cannon G12 and trying different settings to get more portrait-like images of some flowers. This is the first - please provide honest criticism of the technique used not whether you like or dislike flower shots. All comment and critiques however, are greatly appreciated. (Cannon G12 - 1/1250 sec, F/4.0, focal 12MM, ISO 160)

I think this is gorgeous! Love the inner color especially with such good detail. I think you could take the exposure down a bit more, to gain more detail on the actual petals. Kathy I think your doing a good job, keep at it. Tigs♥ =^..^=

I like this very much. The flower really pops against the dark background and the details and clarity are very good.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

A nicely composed capture of these lovely blooms, Kathy. Good details in the shot. I wish you hadn't of cropped off the petals of the top flower. Try a 3 (or more) shot exposure capture to bring the highlighting down under control. Or try a higher f-stop value and see where that gets you.
