Since today is predicted to be 102F.here I decided to post a flower that loves the heat. It's a member of sunflower family, also called blanket flower, because it's colors resembled native American blankets. It is extremely drought tolerant which is good because that's about the point we're at in the Chicago area. All comments and critiques apreciated.

I love Gaillardia's , have them planted all over the farm.
I found a new variety this spring and planted them they are a deeper red with not as much yellow.
Dan and I came across them in the Gulf, growing wild. I was surprised to see them , altho I shouldn't have been since the climate is perfect for them.
Your shot is stunning ...showing their beauty .
Great focus and color.

Bright clear and good edging on this pop in your eye Gaillardia.
Sounds like the weather is really bad out in the midwest. We had lots of rain last week and today is 80 and calm, low humidity. Watch. Things will change and you'll get more rain than you want. lol

102° in Illinois with its humidity is actually hotter than the core of the sun. I assume you won't miss your training run for your upcoming marathon because of a little heat and humidity, Kathy. Right now it's 82° with very low humidity here at home, but I would be happy if it was 50° warmer after spending a week in San Diego with relatives. It's hard to believe that I'm the "normal one" in the family.

I'm not real familiar with Gaillardia although it looks familiar. You've done a brilliant job on your image, Kathy, although the major problem that I see can not have been avoided in that it was a flower.

Excellent DoF and clarity. The colors are striking. Is it common for the flower to be asymmetrical or did you pluck the petals while thinking of me and saying "He loves me...he loves me not."?

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

I'm glad I took that day off then and stayed inside, sounds like a scorcher. A terrific closeup on this beauty, Kathy. Brilliant bright colours and nice details in the photo. Great job!
