I was wondering why there were so many macros and close ups being posted. The "Good luck in the contest" comment was a dead give away. It looks like I have some pretty heavy duty commenting to do to keep up with the Joneses. I could simply say, "Nice shot. Thanks for sharing," and let dead dogs lie or lying dogs lie or keep my finger out of the cookie jar and for once remember to put the toilet seat down, but that's not my style. The link said that this shot was called "Cone Flower" yet the title here says "Conehead"; so there's trouble afoot as Sherlock Holmes said to Dr. Watson. Personally I liked Dan Aykroyd and Jane Curtin as Beldar and Prymaat Conehead, but that's neither here nor there which in itself makes no sense at all. If it's neither here nor there, where exactly is it?
From my perspective, the shot looks pretty darn good...at least better than any macro I've ever shot. I've seen a few lately that might beat you in in the sharpness sub-department, but the image is very clearly focused. Nice colors and no noise. Being completely insane isn't as much fun as you might think, but it affords me the opportunity to hear the voices that tell me I'm the second coming and see things that others might not notice or care about. I can also get away with these rambling critiques. Point being that I would have left a tinge more room on the bottom and maybe even cloned out the bug eaten area on the right flower petal.
