I was taking my new camera for it's first test drive this morning so I have a couple of shots I would like to get some feedback on. This shot was taken at the Skokie Lagoons about 8:45am. Here's some info on this area: "Skokie Lagoons is a nature preserve in Glencoe and Winnetka, Illinois, owned and managed by the Forest Preserve District of Cook County. Water flows southward from the Chicago Botanic Garden through the lagoons to the Skokie River. The site of Skokie Lagoons was previously a marsh, known by the Potawatomi name Chewbab Skokie or Skokie Marsh. The marsh was partially drained by local farmers, leaving a peat bog. During spring floods it became a lake that inundated adjacent property and roads. Between 1933 and 1940, the Civilian Conservation Corps executed a plan to bring the waters under control. Several thousand workers moved four million yards of earth to re-contour the land, creating the artificial lagoons of today. High waters eroded the shoreline, filling the lagoons with sediment and damaging the fish habitat. From 1995 to 1999, the Chicago Audubon Society began a program of shoreline restoration. Thousands of plants were added to the shoreline to help limit erosion. Once it was realized that most of the plants in the southern, downstream lagoons were lost during high water, restoration efforts were concentrated on the upstream lagoons. Efforts were made to clear invasive species such as garlic mustard and buckthorn, and replace them with native plants and grasses like goldenrod, tall coreopsis, compass plant, cup plant, coneflower, switchgrass, rattlesnake masters, woodland brome and cinquefoil." (wikipedia) This was to test the wide angle and zoom capabilities.

Kathy I enjoyed the information that goes along with your lovely capture. The clouds are slightly overexposed, maybe a slight adj. would have taken care of that. Other than that I see a lovely image, that is sharp, and well composed

Okay now I'm curious, what is the new equipment? I think this is a very nice first try. Tigs♥ =^..^=

A lovely summer scene and a wide open spot. The framing goes well too.

The image is lovely, but for a wide angle on a bright sunny day, your depth of field is minimal. It looks good, but when enlarged the distant trees are quite soft. That can be from a number of reasons.
What aperture did you use, what's the quality of the lens, Is the lens made by the camera manufacturer. etc.

A lovely looking scene and capture with your new camera Kathy. Critique-wise I can't add much more than what has already been said.
