This is the flowering stage of this plant - we're all more familiar with it when it gets prickly and sticks to our clothes or pets. It's really quite pretty at this stage although most parts of it are toxic in one way or another.

When we were kids...A gang caught me and stuffed a lot of 'Thistle Burrs' down my pants!...I was sore for weeks!...

I know in another month or two I'll be pulling these out of all of my dog's coat ... for some reason they find Cockle Burrs interesting. Wonderful focus & I like the color contrasts.
