We are having another bad snowstorm today (what else is new ,eh?)and I spotted this female cardinal taking refuge from the storm in one of the trees outside my terrace. I set my Nikon on my tripod and through the glass of my terrace windows got a couple of shots of her. She was not in the trees nearest my windows so I had to use the super-zoom but thought it did not come out too bad.

---We are having another bad snowstorm today---

Cruel reality Kathy and hard to imagine for me because in the area where I live we didn't have any snow at all this season. The daffodils are already blooming in my garden. Hope soon you will have better times.

Thanks for the wonderful collage of the cardinals. Think they don't realize that they were posing for a 'Christmas card' lol.

Regards, Cornelius.

Your collage is very nice, I think you did a pretty good job with shooting with the snow falling and all. We are getting it here too! The cardinals are beautiful at this time of year, of course they are anyway. :) Tigs♥ =^..^=

Being a Brit I know nothing about your Cardinals, & thought such a colourful bird would fly south for the winter, how wrong I was! their presence must have cheered up your day. (o:

Thanks for sharing Kathy.

She is talking to herself, Kathy. I think she is talking about how the Cardinals have left for Spring Training in Florida and she is still stuck in the snow.
Good shot.

You would think she would have the sense to find a nice warm bird house somewhere! LOL. Excellent work, Kathy.

Using a long focal length in that kind of weather is always iffy, Kathy. That type of lighting would probably have the lens wide open, and the shutter speed quite slow. You will have a much better chance at sharpness by increasing your ISO to 400 or 800, using less zoom, and then cropping tighter for the same image size.
You might check you Exif information to see what the aperture and shutter speed was for that shot.

We are getting it too, Kathy, and I was just thinking earlier tonight about the poor little birds and animals and how they have to find shelter...nice shots of this pretty girl especially given the difficult conditions...hope she'll be ok.

I like the way you positioned the two photos, it looks like it is all one image. Nice work capturing the cardinal.
