I've seen my first blooming tulips so spring is creeping in slowly. These were a new bulb color I saw at the garden center. The deepest red I've seen almost a burgundy or cranberry color and very tall. They were a very striking color and I could see them mixed in beds with yellow or hot pink.

Excellent close-up of these tulips with wonderful tones Kathy.
If you have the intention to buy a bunch of tulips (a rather common habit in my country) than you have to do two things in order to keep them longer fresh/in an upright position: 1. stab a needle through the stem just under the flower bud; 2. cut the stem at its end in a diagonal way.
These tricks were always used by my late wife, and she was a specialist for sure!
