This is an Helebore which is a very old genus of flowers. They are written of in ancient Greek literature and were believed to be the poison used to killed Alexander the Great. They are the earliest of spring flowers sometimes blooming in late February or March. They've been called Lenten Rose for that reason but are unrelated to roses. I wanted the editing on this image to have the look of age so I worked with a sepia overlay for a more "antique" look. I value all comments.
