Sorry to say I cannot identify which shrub bloom this is - it was in my local park where nothing is identified. Usually I can find it with research but I've struck out on this one. I love the textures in this and it was such a bright spot on a rainy day.

Kathy, it's very hard to determine the identity of this shrub, because the buds are not fully open yet and the leaves can't be seen.
To me there were five options: 1. a native shrub unknown in Europe, 2. a to me unknown shrub, 3. Cornus mas, 4. Mahonia aquifolium, and 5. Edgeworthia chrysantha.
Honesty requires me to say that I can't give you the solution because my doubts remain, and that frustrates me, lol.

Anyhow a fine capture.

Regards, Cornelius.

If agent SEAS does not tell us, nobody will.
Suggestion is for you, Kathy dear, to post another pic when the buds are open, fully open and then we shall learn the truth.
All the same I agree the textures are lovely and colouring perfect, so the final effect is very good DT.

What a lovely bright burst of sunny yellow.
I thought it was a yellow boronia but the leaves are wrong.

They said the day would come when this was going to happen. I just wish I had more time to prepare for the time that you were clueless about a flowering shrub.
A good DoF and beautiful colours in the photo.
