I'm posting a couple more shots from my prairie visit today. This first one is a form of wild sedum. It grows underneath taller prairie plants as it is only 1-1.5" tall. They have been transplanting it to the roof of the conservation building at the preserve to provide natural cooling. It's a slow process - they have about 2/3 of the roof covered now.

Fantastic close up and a bust of colour feeling the screen, what a outstanding way for them to use this to help keep the building cool. They've done that with grass up here especially at the US Customs building
