Also known as Caryopteris or blue mist spirea. Bluebeard shrubs are covered with clusters of delicate blue flowers from late summer to early frost providing hard to find late summer/early fall color. They are originally native to China, Mongolia and Japan. Caryopteris bushes have a lightly scented foliage that butterflies and bumble bees just love. This was in the early opening stage, when fully open the name blue mist becomes apparent.

The splash of color really makes this one pop, Kathy.

I have a couple of spirea bushes...maybe they are cousins with these. I like the color of the flowers here, better than the pink ones mine get. Great looking shot, Kathy.

These shrubs can grow up to 4 meters tall Kathy. They are wonderful to see them in full bloom.

Thanks for another very fine image my friend!

Regards, Cornelius.

It is a truly striking colour and it stands out against the dark background so well Kathy.

I love the color against the dark background. The unopened buds are patiently waiting for their turn to pop.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
