This was a most unusual flowering shrub photographed at the Chicago Botanic Garden which they had failed to identify. (A continuing failure with this garden, and not an excusable one for a garden that claims to be world class!) Another gent was photographing this at the same time as me and we asked each other what it was but neither of us knew. It appears to be tropical to me and I have done much research over the last few weeks to no avail.

To me it's a species of the Caesalpinia pulcherrima, Kathy, famous for its colors. This one has wonderful colors too.
Excellent capture!

Fantastic capture and those colours are beautiful, looks 3D in full on my screen. I agree with Cornelius about the name.

That is a UGF or UGS (Unidentified Growing Foofy or Shrub...depending on ones floral expertise.) Sensational color and lighting and the clarity is perfect. Well done, Kathy.

I'm glad that someone was able to tell you what it was, because I sure did not know. Very unusual, and you did a fine job on the color, and the details, very interesting to say the least. tigs=^..^=

This clearly the cat-o-nine-tails bush. A great close up on the blooms, Kathy. Beautiful colours and details in the image.
