Another unusual find this year - I had never seen nor heard of this before. Here's some info on it from various internet sources. Parrot's Beak Lotus vine is a very beautiful endemic wildflower of Tenerife in the Canary Islands, which is almost extinct in the wild but surviving in gardens and parks. One of the most dramatic plants for spilling over the sides of containers, lotus bears soft, silvery foliage and bold, lobster-claw-like flowers in shades of orange, red, and yellow. It is really a trailer and can grow up to 3 feet in length by the end of the season. It has many-branched segments covered with very fine, gray-green leaves. In sun, they're almost iridescent. The blossoms that appear in June or early July are up to 3 inch long with curved petals. They're scarlet to crimson, lightening to an orange-red as they fade. My Fx2 for the week. They actually remind me more of lobsters and crawfish than parrots beaks, but they are a beautiful bloom. Great capture of these unique flowers, Kathy.
