Captured this morning at a new park, at least new for me, in Glenview Il which is the town south of where I live. This was in a large park there called Flick Park and I have some other nice shots from there I'll be posting.
Hard to capture a blue heron Kathy, because they are very shy. Don't know why you were able to approach it that near. Anyhow an amazing and very fine capture, my friend. Very well done!

that sure is close up and personal for one these birds, tired many times on these subjects GRRRRRRR i never get close enough with my glass. they sure are fun to watch while fishing.
Tell the truth...how did you get this blue heron to pose for you? We have herons here, but I never can get close enough to get off a shot. Don't tell me it's because of my cowbell necklace that I wear. Fabulous shot. When I saw the title, I couldn't imagine that they was a flower named Blue Heron. Very nice detail in a difficult lighting situation. He's mostly in the shade except for that head. If they ever have a contest called "Overexposed", I'll try to shoot something similar only the head will look like you're stating at the sun.
