Last time I photographed this flower it was a deep pink one in Hawaii - this time I saw it locally. Since it is an evergreen shrub from topical climates I don't know who would plant it in this area with our winters but there it was and blooming beautifully.

Kathy...I picture you on Jeopardy. The categories are flowers, Latin names for flowers, flowers that are orange and common flower names. Naturally you win well over $100K and live happily ever after. Believe it or not, we have a very similar looking flower here although the leaves are not as thick and waxy. Maybe I'll work up some nerve and post it before the end of the decade. Beautiful shot of a beautiful plant. My only complaint is not with the photograph as much as it is with the plant. It's too orange. I wonder who we know who is also too orange.

I am finding myself more & more interested though...its a hard act to follow! i really do enjoy viewing and learning. this one here? i can honestly say I've never seen before. maybe they pull it in come winter? crazy!

It's amazing how some tropical plants survive outside of their natural surroundings. I'm struggling with a few Mediterranean plants from Sardinia (especially Mirto) which I wrap up for the winter. So far so good. Well done on this one, Kathy.

So, let the butterflies come, Kathy, as they are fond of the fragrance and nectar of the Ixora flowers.
Lovely image (per usual), my friend!

Kathy - Chicago - the new tropics - global warming? ;-) These are showy blooms that I've only seen on a few Caribbean islands. A good find for you, and a most enjoyable view for us. Kudos!
