Also known as flowering turmeric. Here's some info from Wiki: "Curcuma is a genus of about 100 accepted species in the family that contains such species as turmeric and Siam Tulip. They are native to Southeast Asia, southern China, the Indian Subcontinent, New Guinea and northern Australia." It reminded me a great deal of the various types of flowering ginger I've seen particularly in Hawaii.

Good one of this flower with the sunshine on it. The green leaves give it a nice background.

Kathy, in my country is 'curcuma' a deep-orange-yellow powder commonly used as a spice in Far East cuisines. As you've already said in your narrative, it's called in the English language 'Turmeric'. It's made by the rhizomes of the Curcuma longa. The curcuma longa and the you pictured species of a curcuma are probably relatives (lol). They belong anyhow to the Zingiberaceae family. When I compare the image of the curcuma longa that I have with your image, the major difference between these captures is that your curcuma image is much finer. It can be that your photographic skills is the reason for that.

Thanks for another wonderful capture, my friend.
