This is one that may be unfamiliar to most. It's a perennial that originates in Turkey and Syria. It flowers in mid summer and then the flowers turn to seed pods that feed the birds in winter. This is in the flowering starting to turn to pods stage. It's very attractive to butterflies and bees when flowering and apparently if you look at very bottom right corner lady bugs as well.
Hope you'll understand that I don't like to go to either Syria or Turkey now in order to see them in real.
In this stage your very fine image is sufficient to me to enjoy this rare flower.
PS: the Lady Bug has brought its size in the proper perspective!
