Yesterday I went to an old garden center near the city. It's been there since 1927 and my great-uncle used to take me there as a little girl when he bought new rose bushes for his garden. I go there now because they grow all their own stock and do not rush and force feed the plants a bloom booster which in the long run does not produce a healthy plant. I was surprised to see the peonies already blooming - only the oriental type however - the old fashioned type are still a week or two away from bloom. This is from old bushes that encircle the property.
