Dianthus blooms from spring all through summer. It's a cousin to the greenhouse grown carnations you're used to seeing. The color on this one was striking.
Kathy, the Dutch name for these very fine flowers are 'Boerenpronkers' (Farmer's Pride or showing off by farmers, or something similar, because it can't be translated literally) because in my country in the past they could in general be found on the yards of farmhouses.
