This is a type of dianthus I was not familiar with. It is dianthus barbatus and instead of the individual flowers the flowers form a ball. This one was a spectacular color and it was called "Heart Attack".
Excellent lighting and the well handled, for photography, difficult red colors makes this to a cheerful image, Kathy.
PS: the botanical name Dianthus is derived from dios, and anthos, so a divine flower. Probably the Greek Theophrastus (371-287 BC) gave the plant this name.
