The prairie I visit is what is known as a wetlands prairie. There is much dry area but also wetland areas so you see not only prairie plants but waterfowl and beavers as well. This was a very windy day and the water was shimmering as the mama duck and the two ducklings went floating by. You can see the reflection of the tall grasses in the background.

I really like the water ripples, and of course the duck family.

I like how the rippled reflection of a pair of trees, out-of-frame above the scene, appears like a pair of ghostly hands reaching down to snag one of the ducklings. Watch out for your babies, mama!

Kathy, think that most of the people in my country have wrong ideas where the prairie stands for. Think they've never heard about a wetlands prairie. Your series shows its existence and its diversity. Would be an 'eye-opener' for them.
Thanks for this cute picture of mother and kids.

Altogether a delightful picture Kathy.
The ducks seem to have longer bills than I am used to.
I love how th ducklings still have some of their baby fluff :)

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Thanks for sharing this part of the prairie we didn't know existed.
