Just a little play on words - the Dianthus are relatives to carnation and are an early spring flower. This one was quite spectacular in color and markings.

I wish I was a Glow Worm, a Glow Worm's never glum, 'cause how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?

Kathy, by checking-out this link, I've read that Dianthus leaves are often strongly glaucous grey-green to blue-green.

Could be that the grower has provided it with special manure (☺), not only changing the leaves to lush green ones, but giving the flower this deep and wonderful tones as well.
Very special!

I am sure Paul Anka would love this shot Kathy.
The colors are outstanding. It is nice to have a florist in our midst.

Very pretty Kathy. I call them Sweet William, my mother called them Pinks. For ever know I shall think of them as Oh Please Dianthus. and......I cant get the song out of my head.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
