Also called Prairie Onion in Minnesota and Cliff Onion here in Illinois. This is a native wildflower and what was so interesting is I found it today in front of a Dr.s office. They had planted an entire large bed with all native wildflowers which I think is wonderful and was surprised to see that attention to detail instead of a bed of petunias or geraniums.
Their smell/scent/fragrance is specific, and most of the time not appreciated by people, their appearance is enchanting however. Your photo is proof of that.
