A very old rose sometimes called Japanese rose as originally it came from Asia. It was first brought to the USA in 1845 and became naturalized all over New England starting in 1899. It is considered invasive in some parts of this country and Great Britain. It forms very large hips(fruit) sometimes at the same time as it is still bearing flowers. It's leaves are quite different than modern roses.

Strange but beautiful roses. You got the color very well in spite of the bright sunlight.

Wonderful and strong roses, Kathy. See by the the leaves that they are in a very healthy condition. Wonder if their rose hips are edible (used in marmalade, or something like that. If so, it would be a good source of vitamin C, ☺ .
Very fine capture!
