Also called Nepeta - this is an old perennial well known for hundreds of years. A very hardy and drought tolerant plant that is very attractive to bees and hummingbirds and of course irresistible to cats!
Kathy, the dutch name of this catnip plant is 'Kattenkruid', when translated literally: cat's herb. Not that amazing because cats are fond of this plant, in particular the Nepeta cataria. After they've sniffed the scent of the plant or have eaten from the plant, some of the cats roll dramatically or whining over the ground, scamper the plant or stand motionless with a dull look in the eyes. Drooling and spinning also occurs. After ten to fifteen minutes the "enchantment" is broken, ☺ . Wonderful capture of this 'magical' plant.
