Also known as wild perennial cornflower. In the same family as bachelor buttons but not the same flower. Always a favorite of mine because the bud markings and details are so interesting.

Your photo shows both the beauty and fragility of the top part of this flower very well, Kathy.
Incidentally, I agree wholeheartedly with you regarding the bud markings and details.
